Sydney Sturner, LMSW

Brooklyn Based Therapist for women

Hi! I’m Sydney. You may have found yourself in familiar relationship patterns that leave you feeling frustrated, lonely, or unsure of your worth. Perhaps you repeatedly attract partners who replicate past hurts or you stay in relationships long after they’ve stopped serving you because the fear of being alone feels stronger than the discomfort of staying. It might be that you’re dating and arriving at each first date with hope only to leave feeling unseen, drained, or anxious about whether you’ll ever find a partner who truly understands you. If you’re already in a relationship, you might sense that your partner doesn’t really know the person you’ve become, or that you’ve lost sight of who you are outside of being “with someone.” These struggles can keep you stuck in cycles of self‑doubt, overwhelm, and disappointment.

How we’ll work Together

In therapy with me you’ll get the support and clarity you’ve been longing for. Together we’ll explore what’s behind these patterns – the beliefs you hold about yourself and love, the fears you’ve learned to ignore, and the unspoken needs that are waiting to be expressed. We’ll rebuild a sense of inner strength so you can show up in dating and relationships from a place of confidence and choice rather than desperation or fear. You’ll learn to communicate your truth, set boundaries that protect your wellbeing, and recognise when a relationship reflects your growth rather than your past. I’ll guide you through discovering the parts of yourself that deserve joy, connection, and authenticity, and help you find love that honours all of you.

My Expertise

My professional training and experience empower me to walk this path with you. I earned a Master of Social Work from New York University and I am a Licensed Master Social Worker. I have worked extensively with adolescents and adults facing anxiety, depression, self‑esteem and body‑image challenges, trauma and life transitions. I bring a holistic, client‑centred, anti‑oppressive lens to my work and integrate Cognitive‑Behavioral Therapy, Interpersonal Psychotherapy, and Psychodynamic Therapy to meet you where you are. I practise from an anti‑racist perspective, I am LGBTQ+ affirming, and I embrace a Health at Every Size approach.

If you are ready to stop living by old rules and patterns that no longer serve you, and instead begin to live by the values and vision you hold for your relationships and for yourself, I’d love to work with you. Let’s build the foundation you deserve for love that feels aligned, empowering and deeply connective.
